Well I noticed everyone who was interested in Jacoby, including the Colts, were interested in him as a backup. You'll get no argument from me on him being a quality backup who could fill in for a game or 2. My argument is based entirely on him being a starter and carrying a team. Not just carrying them, but putting a team into the Super Bowl discussion where Luck had them. That's definitely not Jacoby. I see the Colts at best as an 8-8 team with him.

Unfortunately liking a guy doesn't mean a guy will be any good or carry the team far. So many teams have been wrong about so many QB's it's very difficult for me to put any value in what they say xD. There's no benefit in that, only benefit in talking him up. Yeah I'm still a little sour about Sloter xD.

But no, not only are teams wrong often enough about guys they've liked, they've been wrong about guys they never even talk about. Kurt Warner and Brady for example. We could probably dig up some less than flattering comments about them when they were overlooked or when they finally got their shot. We'll never know about Jacoby until he plays, I'm only going by what he's done so far, which was 2 years ago now. Brissett might be awesome in practice. *whistle*

Alright, couple things. We need some info before we go and jump to conclusions. 1) how long does Cam hold onto the ball? It seems like it's forever, and 2) how often does he leave the pocket?, and possibly 3) how many of these hits are related to him scrambling? From what I see, the fact that Cam is getting beat up has a lot more to do with Cam than it does his OL.

Is there a team in the league that feels like it has a good enough OL? It sounds like that's something everyone is complaining about these days. I'm wondering if it has a lot to do with QB's being slower at reading defenses, or offensive play design, or maybe even better DL play or play design.

It's probably one more thing we can blame on college ball. OL's aren't learning how to block for pocket passers anymore because everyone has an "athletic" QB and they run the read option 90% of the time. That might require a smaller faster OL, and that isn't going to cut it in the NFL. It's seriously time to consider a developmental league where young players can unlearn the bad habits they picked up in college and learn how to play in the NFL.

In fact I would love it if young players had an alternative option to college ball entirely. A semi-pro league where they don't have to put up with the strict BS of the NCAA, and where they can get paid a little. This league could include some classroom work, like learning how to manage money, how to use a condom, how to not abuse your girlfriend, how to avoid PED's, and other valuable life skills. Things that NFL players typically struggle with once they start cashing those big paychecks. Then we can avoid all the stupid cheating scandals that these meat head athletes have to risk to maintain eligibility just to do the only thing anyone cares about, football. Stop the charade. Nobody cares if Tua can maintain a C average in art history, or if someone buys him a ham sandwich for lunch. Best of all, preseason can disappear.

So anyway, I'm just here to do my official "I told you so" so I can move on to the next one. I mean look at that. The Colts were so sold on Brissett being the guy that they moved on from him after just one season, and for a guy who might be worse at this point in his career lol.

Seriously, not even I would have taken Rivers over Brissett. If those were my only 2 options, I would definitely stick with Brissett. I mean did the Colts even watch football last year? Rivers didn't have a down year, the guy is clearly done, the way Peyton was done in 2015.

I want to rub it in the face of everyone who bought into the nonsense that the Colts were sold on Brissett and that Luck wasn't a douche for waiting until the 11th hour to leave them hanging at the altar, but now that we have evidence that suggests the Colts would have screwed it up anyway, it tarnishes my victory dance a little bit.

I mean the Colts had an entire offseason this time and Rivers was the best option they could come up with? Now I'm almost glad that Luck quit on them at the last minute lol.

To be fair, Rivers wasn't available at this time last year, so the Chargers prevented them from making that mistake, but there's no evidence to suggest they would have done any better. Maybe they did in fact think Brissett was the best option.

Which only supports my ongoing theory that there isn't a single team in the league that knows what it's doing at the QB position, and that they only get lucky when they find one that's good, which means I'm still right about Sloter, and that's the most important thing. *mustachedance*

Why would you pay $10m more for what is most likely a downgrade? A one year deal so they pretty much already know the guy might be done. If his arm falls off by week 7 it's going to be fun watching them try to pivot back to Brissett and convince everyone they have confidence in him AGAIN.

The Colts with $40m tied up in mediocre QB's though. That's brutal. Then next year they gotta go through this again.

Yeah, they had a ton of cap room to burn, so the Brissett extension didn't hurt them all that much. I get that Rivers and HC Reich are friends and they like him as a system fit, but he's cooked. With neither of the two signed past this season, I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled the trigger on a QB early in the draft.
