Anyone could have led that '98 team to the NFC Championship Game. I will go to my grave believing if Green had benched Cunningham for Johnson like he should have in the Fourth quarter of that game-the Vikings would have gone to the Super Bowl.

I am afraid I know the answer to this, but-do we induct Br-tt F-vr- to the Ring of Honor too? He actually played more games as a Viking than Cunningham. I mean, he was more utterly craptastic in his second year than Cunningham was in '97 or '99, and he threw way more interceptions than TDs and the Vikings finished last and we're swept by the Lions! At least the '97 and '99 Vikings made it to and won games in the playoffs (thanks to Brad Johnson and Jeff George-when do either of them get in?). But,'09 was fun right?

That would be hilarious, and pretty awesome, but one-hit-wonders don't belong in the ROH, do they?

No to Cunningham and no to Favre.

Yeah, oh boy, don't know how I feel about it. Great guy yeah, but was he really a great TE? He only had maybe 2-3 decent years, he just happened to play a long time. 176 games in 13 seasons. He only caught 28 career TD's. He's better than Rudolph in every category, except TD's (Rudolph has 41), and Rudolph has only played 8 seasons so far.

I just hate the participation trophy road we seem to be on. We can almost name it the Ring of Hey I Recognize That Guy. Same with the Hall of Fame. Eventually we're going to need a Hall of Elite, or Ring of Elite because how many players will be enshrined in 100 or even 1000 years that will be much better? Too many, and it will almost be as meaningless as the Pro Bowl. The bar seems rather low. Which is why you could argue putting almost any QB in the HoF when you consider how Joe Namath made it.

In the grand scheme of things, 58 years is a relatively short amount of time, and I get the need to want to honor guys who have stood out the most in that period of time, but on a much larger scale, Steve Jordan won't even be considered a top 10 TE in Vikings history. Hopefully xD. Eventually we'll need other categories to differentiate most of the mediocre players we want to honor now from the truly elite future players that we don't know about yet.

In a normal year, the Pro Football Hall of Fame will induct as many as eight people into the ranks of the immortals. According to a recent report, in conjunction with the 100th Anniversary of the National Football League, the next class could be significantly expanded.

Pro Football Talk is reporting that the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2020 could include as many as twenty inductees, with the breakdown looking like this:

5 Modern-day candidates
10 Seniors candidates
3 Contributors
2 Coaches

The proposal has passed the initial steps to passage, but it still needs to be approved by the full board of the Pro Football Hall of Fame when they meet on 2 August.

The expanded number of Senior candidates would give a lot of players that had come close in the past and/or have otherwise proven to be deserving to get into the Hall. Obviously, for fans of the Minnesota Vikings, the top name on the list for the franchise that definitely needs to be considered is defensive end Jim Marshall.
