What's said and what's been proved are two different things. That is why he hires these former HCs on the offensive side of the ball. Clearly he wasn't hands on with the offense last season. Turner's scheme was outdated but he left on his own. We got LUCKY with Pat Shurmur, a true offensive mind who knew how to get this offensive rolling.

Zimmer is involved with the defense because it shows. Guys like Rhodes, Waynes, Danielle Hunter, Anthony Harris, Eric Kendricks, Everson Griffen, etc etc, have all made it to that next level.

None of our offensive players have necessarily made that next step accept Thielen maybe. Diggs is Diggs. He shows up some games, gets injured, and goes quiet in some games, he's not consistent. Rudolph will go games being nonexistent. Cousins is pretty much the same as he was in Washington. Can't get the running game going and the O-Line continues to be bad.

Meanwhile we see improves in the defense every year. And when we drafted Mike Hughes, who maybe a great player for us someday, but it further prove of Zimmer neglecting needs on the offense.

I'm done making excuses for Zimmer. At best he is a great defensive coordinator, not a head coach. Outside of his neglecting of the offense, he also sucks at time management and calling challenges. With Zimmer I feel like we will always be that team who's ALWAYS missing that one piece to get us to the super bowl. Last several years, we blamed the QB. This year we blamed the O-Line. Who will we blame after this season if we fall short again

Zimmer just needs to find the yin to his yang. That was Shurmur, but hopefully he finds it in Kubiak and Stefanski. He shouldn't have to run the defense and call the plays on offense. His baby is the defense; everyone knew that going in and was okay with it after our #32 ranked defense (good times, right?). He just needs to find someone who can do with the offense what he is doing with the defense, but ultimately the week-to-week responsibility is going to be with them. Are they up to the task? We'll see...

Ahhh. Neglecting the offense, time management, and challenges ... all things that are a bit blown out of proportion when it comes to the "I'm done with Zimmer!" crowd. And, yet, despite all of his flaws, he is still a top 5-10 coach by all standards. Know the coaches who are better than him in winning percentage? Guys like Belichick, Tomlin, Payton, ... that Zimmer, what a scrub, huh? Imagine if he had a future HOF QB. But I don't need to imagine; no need to make excuses. He's Top 5 in winning percentage without a HOF QB. Heck, without a consistent starter at QB ... and a new guy at OC every other day. Zimmer's teams have been to hell and back, especially on the offensive side of the ball. The fact that we've done so well should be a little surprising, and, honestly ... speaks volumes about what kind of coach Zimmer actually is. Zimmer is a damn good coach. It's too bad some Vikings fans want the next Childress or Frazier. Eh, no thanks! I'm good with Zimmer and his three flaws!

That's fair. I wouldn't say we've sucked the whole time (last year had some good moments), but, yes, overall ... our offense has been a huge letdown and VERY unreliable! It's too bad we couldn't keep Shurmur around a bit longer. Maybe this year wouldn't have sucked so bad...

Why wasn't this addressed earlier. Why because when things were going good in the beginning it wasn't an area of concern to Zimmer. After Sparano died, instead of getting a proven OL coach, he just promoted two people who didn't belong in that coaching position.

But I can't wait to hear the next excuse if we miss the playoffs next season. Or if we don't make the super bowl within these next 2 seasons and Zimmer is still on the staff, what will be the excuse. We can keep blaming the QB and OL but we need some quality coaches who can further improve the players. We will always be blaming the lack of production from a certain position when we don't have staff capable of coaching these players to the next level.

That's why I wish he had a coach like Bill Belichick. He can actually take players that weren't necessarily all stars in college or with their previous teams but still coach them to become a championship caliber roster. They went 11-5 with Matt f*cking Cassel. We couldn't even do that. And look at the production they're getting from Patterson, something this offense failed to do.

That's why Zimmer loves hiring former offensive HC. They can do what he won't. If I remember correctly, Sparano was also the run game coordinator. So yeah. If we don't atleast appear in a super bowl next season, FIRE ZIMMER and FIRE SPIELMAN.

Outside of the 2 major sports the Gophers have been very good at sports. Usually anywhere from the bottom of the top 10 to about 30 in overalls (higher later in the period). Included are NCAA championships in women's hockey, men's hockey, wrestling (this is what I can think of). NCAA trips in volleyball, women's softball, baseball, women's soccer, and there may be a few I am missing. (women's basketball). You are just looking at the major sports and writing the gophers off. *bash*

I said "any sport" then you rattled off all these other extra curricular activities, volleyball, softball, baseball, soccer, and women's basketball? I fail to see where we disagree.

Football and men's basketball, what else is there at the collegiate level, that's even somewhat interesting or entertaining?

Lets break it down by which program, yeah we'll refer to them as "programs", because calling some of these a "sport" is stretching reality a bit further than I'm comfortable with. Which programs tend to generate more money for a school? Here's a hint, it's the 2 programs the Goofers have been the most disappointing over the decades lol. Minnesota!!!

At the end of the day, yes most of them call plays but the other assistant coaches actually help with the game planning, it's not all on the OC. I doubt Kubiak will have any say so during games. There won't be excuses, because we'll be fine. But I'm sorry that you want the Vikings to fail so you can say "I told you so!" Quit hanging around Nemmy. It's not healthy for long periods of time. Gotta limit that. lol. But, again, that's a little bit sad. You do you, but that's not how I roll. I'd rather win some games, make the playoffs, and see what happens. I think Zimmer realistically gives us that chance each year.

It's odd that you bring up Cassel. In the last 5 years, what team has done more with a different starter at QB every year? Name me a few. I'll wait...

Also, it's almost like we didn't go 13-3 with Case f*cking Keenum just the year before. Dang... How soon people forget the good when things don't go their way!

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I wouldn't be surprised if bringing in Kubiak was Stefanski's idea ... or, at minimum, something he and Zimmer schemed up together. They've learned from the big flop that was Flip Flop. Let's acknowledge and appreciate that...

I am not pro-Stefanski but I agree with you. And I think that lack of confidence is justified. I think Stef needs the Kubiak Team to succeed. Hopefully he'll see that but yeah, I'd be a bit butt-hurt if I was him. He's got a few months to get over it, if he is.
