Well think of it this way. Would you rather have an easy schedule and be a pretender before you get stomped by real teams in the playoffs, or do you want to find out what your team is made of before they get to the playoffs? Like this year, I think half of us didn't even want the sorry ass Vikings in the playoffs by the end because they looked like absolute crap against every playoff caliber team lol.
Not to mention there's no guarantee how good any of these teams will be next year. Half the teams that made the playoffs last year, didn't make it this year. And that's pretty much how it's gone for awhile now. The Vikings had to play the 15-1 defending NFC champion Panthers in Carolina early in 2016, and it ended up being an easy win. Then we lost at home to the 7-9 Lions and got our doors blown off at home by the 8-8 Colts.
On paper, it's an effing doozy! But, as you pointed out, so much can change from year to year. Who expected the Chiefs to be so good? What about the Cowboys? The Bears? Who expected us to be so blah? Hopefully we're the Chiefs next year, scoring 100 points per game...
... and neither is this Chris guy.
