The more I think about this the more I just can't really see it working out. And I'm not talking about Stefanski or any other OC candidate but Mike Zimmer the head coach. It's just such a massive advantage if your head coach can run the offense and even call his own plays like a Mcvay or Nagy or Reid. The second we get a talented coordinator that's working out they'll just be poached by another team and we're always going to be in this loop of trying to find a guy to pair with Zimmer.
It's much easier for things to be the other way around where your head coach is an offensive specialist and then you bring in a vic vangio or wade phillips and say "okay run your defense here". Sure defensive coordinators can be poached too but I feel like they're usually less sought after and replacing one isn't as difficult. No one is really that "cutting" edge on defense right now where if you don't have someone like that on offense you're way behind. Matt Patricia left the Pats and their defense GOT BETTER heh.
If Zimmer now has a reputation of a guy offensive coaches don't want to come work with we might be in trouble.
