It's happening - On midnight on Halloween, no less!!
McDaniels only lasted 25 games as he proved to be just as incompetent as he was when he was in Denver. It was quite apparent that McDaniels was likely the worst hire in the 2022 crowd from the start, and Raiders ownership admitted their mistake sooner than expected.
Even more shocking is the firing of their new GM who was hired alongside McDaniels. Ziegler was one of Bill Belichick's most trusted staffers and is yet another failure from that regime. GMs very rarely ever get fired this quickly into their tenures, but the two biggest moves of his tenure have not paid off - trading a 1st and 2nd for Davante Adams and paying him, and then ousting Derek Carr for Jimmy Garoppolo. Add in Chandler Jones imploding and refused to play for the team, and the defense basically being Maxx Crosby and a bunch of guys.
Draft-wise, it's way too early to say how well Ziegler was doing, as the 2022 class's earliest pick was #90. So far they've come away with one starting OL and the 2023 class is slow out of the game with their #7 overall pick looking like a massive flop so far.
I do think it's worth pointing out that this regime didn't get a chance to flush out the failures of the Gruden/Mayock regime, as they're lacking in talent because of many blundered drafts before them - but it's better for them to blow things up now and not wait until the entire team has quit on McDaniels and Ziegler digs Mayock's hole even deeper.
