For the most part, the defense has looked shutdown at times, but they've also allowed some of the easiest TD drives I can remember. Statistically we've been pretty meh, but I think the better description is inconsistent. When you look at the stats, there doesn't look like much of an improvement over last year, but the biggest difference has been on the scoreboard. Last year we allowed 30.0 ppg, this year it's down to 23.8.
The positive is we've faced some of the leagues best QB's, but haven't allowed a 300 yard passer yet. The problem is the offense hasn't been able to take advantage when the defense is playing shutdown. Or as Zim said, we can't dig ourselves out of a hole. It seems when the defense forces a 3 n out, the offense has been going 3 n out too.
