I'm not sure I want to read through this thread. I'm not sure I want to relive any of today's game like that. Thank God I had some hilarious fans in my section. They kept me laughing.

We were totally worthless. Once again, the defense does enough to keep us in the game, but the offense fails over and over and over. I didn't realize the Lions were a shutdown defense. I guess I must have missed that little tidbit. I get that they are good, but not that good. Injuries or not, if Turner can't come up with a better game plan than that BS we've been forced to watch week after week, he needs to retire. Like yesterday. We look hopeless. It's SO hard to watch. And why can't we pass the ball 7 yards? 12 yards? 15 yards? A deep ball...? What's a deep ball? Oh, never mind. I know, I'm being too hard on the guys. We do pass the ball 7 yards...on 3rd and 12. *thumb_down*

And WTF were the Vikings doing in the fourth quarter? I get that we weren't going to win without a small miracle, but at LEAST LOOK LIKE YOU ARE TRYING TO WIN! Show some urgency. Go go go! Nope, just slowly huddling and moping to the line like they weren't even trying. *wallbang* It's so pathetic. A little EFFORT would be nice.

Fans remained involved in that game as long as they could, but the Vikings kept finding ways to suck, suck, and suck again. It was embarrassing.

If that loss wasn't humiliating enough, some of us stuck around at the stadium to watch the end of that Packers game on a little TV. I remember one fan saying, "Come on football Gods, at least give us this." Needless to say, THAT didn't turn out well for us either! >

Just a bad, bad, BAD day for Vikings fan.

That's what I was wondering. I was so disgusted I turned the game off after that delayed draw to Asiata late in the game. I was just so like WTF? Down 17-0, facing a shutout and we run a delayed draw on 2nd n 10 to the slowest guy in the league? The crowd boo'd there didn't they? I heard them getting restless. On the next play it's 3rd n 12, Jennings makes a nice catch, but then doesn't stretch the ball out for a first down, he just runs out of bounds. Just a poor effort IMO. I turned the game off when we punted because I was about to start breaking stuff lol. Grrrrr I'm losing my patience with Norv Musgrave. Stupid draws and screens every game and it's not fooling anyone. Where's the vertical offense? Like you said, no deep balls. Like ever. Take a damn shot once in awhile! Maybe that's not Teddy's strength, but you gotta keep the defense honest, and maybe you draw the PI.

I told you guys....Muskrat killed the real Norv and is wearing his skin. That's why he's always sequestered up in the booth and when he does press....well....I believe it's just a hologram that you need special glasses to see the truth, like in They Live.

I dunno, the Blackhawks used to be the Vikings of hockey and I think they will be again. We almost beat them in the playoffs last winter. Since I don't get to watch the Wild I don't know if they are as as cursed as the Vikings

The Wild outplayed the Blackhawks in many aspects during the playoffs. A few mental breakdowns and having to play our fourth string goalie cost dearly.

Jerick McKinnon started and out-snapped Matt Asiata 48-15 in Sunday's loss to the Lions.

We have a much-needed changing of the guard, as players were informed early in the week that McKinnon would be getting the nod. He ended up out-touching plodder Asiata 17-3, recording 82 total yards against an excellent Lions defensive front. "It's not up to me; it’s up to the coaches," Asiata said on playing time. "I'm a team player and I do whatever the coaches tell me to do."

Norv Turner is what I thought he would be. I was not convinced he was going to be a major upgrade, as he still has a run to set up the pass kind of mentality.

My off-season posts on PPO about Turner expressed those trepidations.

He does tend to do better as the season goes on, so maybe he will adapt to the players, or they will adapt to him. I hope so because this looks like Bill Musgrave Part II.

Before I put blame on Norv's play calling, look what we have to work with. We have an o-line that can't block worth crap. We have WRs who are not getting open and dropping passes. I think the absence of Peterson doesn't need to be explained. lol A rookie QB who is basically going to have to grow by having growing pains every now and then. We are missing our starting TE. I don't think it's the play calling, it's player execution. It doesn't matter what play we call when the players aren't executing. Greg Jennings is overrated. Simpson, our only vertical threat is gone. Patterson still has to work on his route running. It's all bad right now. It's not the coaches. He doesn't know how to build a contending team.

I agree with a lot of this, but you know what? When your average drive is only 13 yards long, you have to start looking into the coaching/game plan, too. We have our issues, but we shouldn't be that bad. No one should be that bad. It's downright pathetic. Despite our injuries, supposed lack of talent, and the lack of execution on the offensive side of the ball, the stats we have been producing lately are still inexcusable. If something isn't working, then it's the coaching staff's job to figure something out that WILL work and then try that. If that doesn't work, then keep trying something else until something clicks. I'm just not seeing that. The offense is given chance after chance after chance and just...nothing! I'm not seeing much effort, either. And all of these stories coming out about guys showing up late and whatnot, it's starting to make sense. It's just embarrassing, that's all I know. We have our excuses, as you just shared, but I'm not going to sit here and make excuses for these guys. They are professionals. Losing isn't the worst part. It's how we lose that's the problem: blowouts, multiple turnovers, giving up freebie big plays for easy scores, lack of effort, playmakers not touching the ball, no creativity, etc. It's sad. Losing is one thing; losing like that is my issue. (puke)

Its funny (haha) how quickly our offense went from underachieving yet fairly high scoring under Musgrave to unable to achieve under Turner. My confidence in Turner is fading fast. I don't even have any interest in watching that kind of rinky dinky dunky football he appears to bring, even if it works-which it hasn't.

Fortunately for us, we recorded the game and watched it Sunday evening - AFTER I looked up the score. If it was bad (it was) then I didn't want to have any emotional investment.

The good that I saw was Teddy. Yep, he's a rookie and made some mistakes, but the majority of his passes were on target, with a few beauties in stride of the receivers. This kid has talent and seems to have a good head on him. Our receivers were NOT playing well at all. I think they got the Stick-um and vaseline jars mixed up. WTF, guys??? So many drops. And please remember, we're playing football not volleyball. Our satellite blipped out due to weather so we didn't see the 3rd interception, but we did see the first 2. Number one was definitely on TB, but #2 was on the receiver. You just can't play like that. Our O-line is large hole swiss cheese and unless we drastically improve there we will see an even more embarrassing season. What I can say as a positive is that Teddy did about the best he could under the pressure he was in. He didn't have a chance out there, but he held it together and didn't panic. Much more than I can say for his predecessor.

Our D shows we're injured. Run stops are abysmal without Greenway. For all y'all that don't like Greenway, get over it, he is our glue. Barr is coming alive, but he's only one guy.

Watching without emotion was a really good thing for me. I was able to see some positives in some ways, but for the most part we played like crap. Stupid play, bad execution, stupid penalties, lazy play, no fire. Must change.

A woman is only vulnerable when her nails are wet, but even then she can pull the trigger if she needs to. SKOL y'all!

I think another bright spot was McKinnon. He had a few plays where he made something out of nothing. He's the only guy on offense I remember doing anything positive.

I'm glad the Vikings finally figured out to put him out there more instead of Asiata.

Bout friggin time. Is Asiata another one of those guys who looks good in practice? Why are we plagued with so many players who look good in practice but suck in actual games?

I'm getting tired of the lack of fire from this team in recent years. I had hoped that would have been one of the things to change with the new regime, but it doesn't seem to be the case. I'm sure all the losing doesn't help, but good golly, these guys are getting paid so much money to play a game I would kill to be able to play for free.

The other thing is, who are our team leaders? A Jared Allen or Brett Favre type. Nobody jumps out at me. Do we have any? If a players only meeting were to be called, who would be the one to call and lead it? And from what I see, our team captains are appointed weekly. Does that mean we have a different captain each week? That sounds kind of odd.
