Yeah Aaron had it bad and it technically explained his behavior towards the end. I would put everything I had on it being CTE versus just a random bought of the crazies, in someone that is a life long football player. Drugs would be a better explanation, but I don't think Eve rolls that way. You don't even need to get concussions for you brain to be greatly impacted even by all the little hits. There have been cases like Zac Easter who was a high school football player that didn't want to live with his brain not being right anymore, there have been plenty of college cases too. It doesn't matter what age you are, if you keep hitting your head, at all in any capacity, you will not be normal anymore technically.

Wow. You dont see much no, but there is a high level of concern here for him. Very interesting to get a look into that day. Does the EMT say he jumped out at 65 mph?

I didn't hear a MPH, but I heard him say they stopped and then he jumped out. He wouldn't be walking around if he jumped out at 65 MPH lol. That doesn't look like a 65 MPH road either. It's an ambulance though so maybe it was traveling faster than the posted speed limit trying to get him to the hospital, and then I imagine he tried to get out, or threatened to jump out, after he seen one of them digging around in his pocket, which prompted them to stop or slow down considerably before he actually jumped out.

I get that they're trying get as much information out there as possible, and maybe even the goal is to steer younger players away from football, but I think they need to dial back the rhetoric a notch before it does more harm than good. Before we end up with more Zac Easters.

I would love to have Griff back on the field, but I doubt we'll see him in Purple again. I also doubt we will ever have even half the truth of what is going on here. His contract was going to require attention next year, and it's looking more and more like he'll just be released after this season.

I don't buy that, when your heads not straight, you will do goofy sh*t. I don't see any CTE hysteria in general, and I'm the only one I have seen talk about it with Everson, at all. The research is coming out after the fact in these bad cases, but these are inherently not bad people. There needs to be more attention and support for them just like mental health in general in this country, but yeah there is a lot going on behind the scenes too. Head collisions aren't safe at any age at any time, they add up and take a toll.

I think it's funny to see people jump to saying hes totally done or out for season or never be a Vikings again. All quite high general complete assumptions based on nadda. CTE is not a new thing though. The term is relatively new, the diagnosis, but not the condition. Football players have been suffering from it since football was invented and yet only since the propaganda and fear have been beat into everyone's head in recent years, have we started having all these other "secondary" issues. High school players weren't killing themselves because they worried their head wasn't right. Pro players weren't killing themselves either. Until we gave it a name.

Like I said, even if a pee wee player gets the sniffles now, OMG it might be CTE!!! People need to calm down and dial back the rhetoric because it's only making things worse. The hysteria. Like CTE is some new deadly virus, when it's been here all the time. I would even argue it was much worse back then, when nobody cared about concussions and we didn't have all these rules to prevent players from taking each others heads off on every play. Not to mention the inferior equipment they had to play with all those years. The sport has never been more safe and people are acting like it's so much more dangerous and that the CTE boogeyman just recently arrived on scene.

CTE isn't any worse now, now that we know about it and have a name for it, then it was back then when we weren't paying attention to it or had a name for it. Give something a name and people lose their sh*t. It's got a name now, must be a new condition. It's sorta like the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon. Or it's like when people first started hearing about AIDS. AIDS!!!! OMG I think I might have AIDS!!!!! That toilet seat might have AIDS!!!!!! AIDS is coming to get us!!!!!! Someone think of the children!!!!! Burn everything!!!!! People will be people. They like their torches and pitchforks. Give the monster a name and they'll come for it.

People have always killed themselves because they thought their head wasnt right. My best friend killed himself in high school, long before CTE was known. We don't know why he killed himself, and we don't know how many young football players killed themselves because they had symptoms of as-yet unnamed CTE.

Now that it has a name, some people who might have gone on to suffer from it and kill themselves are choosing not to engage in high risk activities, thereby reducing mortality.

It seems to me that people are acting like they are aware of a serious and very scary health risk they werent aware of before, because it hadnt been researched, discovered and named. I thought you were the science guy?

I don't think we know how bad it was before versus now without exhuming thousands of dead football players we probably never will. Men are bigger, faster and stronger now, yet have sensitive girly names like Danielle. Can we be sure that even with better awareness and better equipment that it isnt worse or just as bad now? It seems intuitively likely that it may be less now, but I think we need more data. We don't really know what the threshold for CTE is (though they seem to keep lowering it, saying concussions arent necessary), so even though collisions may be better regulated and better protected and fewer the players might still be reaching that critical threshold causing CTE just as much as they were before.
