What if the Lions aren't the team we face off with this year? We kinda expect it to come down to DET/MN but what if it is actually the bears?
That's my thought too (the Bears are not going to be the prime threat to anyone in the NFCN)... as you say, it is a long shot this year. The Bears will probably be a 7 or 8 win team. Certainly they will be better. But theyt were the worst team in the entire NFL last year. Horrific on offense AND defense. I just don't buy into that "last to first" thing happening to the Bears. Regarding Fields, you'd have to be drinking a lot of kool aid to think he's going to be the MVP. LOL,. But he should be a lot better this year. One thing we're hearing over and over again is that his processing speed is much much better now - which is understandable because, this is his first time to not be learning a new offense with new coaches, players - and having his mechanics adjusted. Continuity matters. Especially for a young QB. He also has better offensive linemen and skill players around him - he looks so much more comfortable now.
D.J. Moore seems like a perfect fit for Fields. They've been working together all summer and are pretty good friends off the field too... so the chemistry/timing is looking good. Fields hosted the skill players for practices this off-season and they worked out together off and on over the months. One thing about Justin Fields is that he is a workaholic - he seems incredibly driven to improve. He has elite athleticism and an accurate long ball... but the Bears did not have the personnel last year to have a real long ball threat. Not with pitiful offensive linemen and pitiful WRs running wrong routes and dropping balls.
This season there is better talent and also Mooney is better. Mooney, recently admitted that he was playing injured all season long last year and needed ankle surgery - but was putting it off. Late in the season he further injured that ankle and was forced to have that surgery (tightrope surgery) and he looks like he did pre-2022 now (pretty solid). Yeah, I'm not worried about Fields processing speed. I've watched every single snap he took at Ohio State and he has the processor ability. But I definitely agree that last season he looked pretty rough.
Regarding Fields, here's more of the kool aid :-)
