I'm still skeptical of Vikings COO Andrew Miller, who led the Vikings GM search and was part of the HC search committee.
Here are the backgrounds of both Miller and Warren:
Miller:
- Analytics background
- Investment banking
- Part of Analytics Staff of Cleveland & Toronto MLB teams
Warren:
- Attorney background
- Hired by Dick Vermeil to joing Rams organization in Front Office/Legal Counsel position
- Gradually worked up to several Front Office positions with Rams/Lions/Vikings
- Named BIG10 Commissioner
When I look at both of the backgrounds and want one in a President/CEO/COO Executive position, even though both come from non-Football backgrounds (investment banking vs attorney), I'd rather choose the candidate that has experience working in the NFL.
Its hard to argue with the results of the 2022 Vikings so far (12-3, NFC North Division title, in-play for #1 and/or #2 seed before Wk 17), but is that credit due to the analytics-based approach that the Wilfs have seemingly embraced with Miller/Kwesi, or the culture that O'Connell created that the Viking players have completely bought into?
