Didn't you get the memo? Defenses can return 2-point conversions/blocked PAT's for 2 points of their own. I know! It's weird that it hasn't happened to the Vikings yet. Chiefs actually beat the Falcons on a defensive 2 pointer in 2016. Falcons thought they'd be cute and go for 2 to give them a 3 point lead with 4 minutes to go, but the Chiefs picked it off for 2 of their own and a 1 point lead, which they held onto haha.
Yep, the 1 point safety. It's never happened in the NFL yet, but it's happened in college a couple times that I'm aware of. The easiest way to get one is if the defense recovers a blocked kick, fumble, or INT out of the EZ, then retreat into the EZ and get tackled. The kicking team would get the 1 point, so no big deal unless you needed the 2 point conversion haha.
The defense can only get the 1 point safety if the offense somehow loses 98 yards and gets tackled in their own EZ on a conversion. A more likely scenario would involve the defense returning a block/fumble/INT on a conversion almost all the way, fumble, have the offense recover and retreat into their EZ where they're tackled. The 2 I know about in college both went against the defense.
And in case you don't think it'd be possible to lose that many yards. Here's a single play in college that lost 87 yards lol. After the offense recovered they faced 3rd and goal with 93 yards to go xD.
