Seattle opens in Japan this year, so expect he will make the team and retire by agreement after the series.
I haven't followed baseball in a long time so I don't know how often they play a series in Japan, but I think it's kinda odd to have such a series so late in Ichiro's career. This seems like something they should have planned before he was 40. And idk, maybe there are some other Japanese players in their prime who would have been better off playing in such a series. Not that Ichiro doesn't deserve it, it's just the timing is way off. Who the heck plays until they're 45? I know he said he wanted to play until he was 50, but I don't see that happening unless it's as a player/manager and he has the occasional pinch hit in a meaningless game.
