Welcome to the NFL, where rules are made up on the fly. So now people are being are being suspended for 6 games over misdemeanors? Last time I checked they said they would reinstate him once his the case was resolved, that was the whole reason he probably accepted that lesser charge. But once again Goodell changes the rules.
This is a huge problem. In this case, Peterson could not play while the issue was in the courts, and then he was suspended on top of that. It is a power play by Goodell.
One thing I hate about pro football is that it's too much politics involved, that's why college football will always be better.
College football is much more political than the NFL.
Folks can't even discipline their kids anymore in this sissy and oversensitive generation of men and women.
Teaching a child discipline and punishing a child are not one and the same. Punishment is just one tool for the former. While I believe some forms of corporal punishment are warranted in some cases, beating a child is not. There is a line to be drawn.
This is also is discrimination of our religious practices. The bible tells us to beat our children when they are out of line.
The Bible actually says children who are disrespectful should be put to death, as does the Koran and the Torah. The Bible indicates that genocide is condoned for religious purposes as well. Do you really want to go there?
That's why kids are much more disrespectful these days. Because they can disrespect and adult and nothing will happen. What are you gonna do to the kid? Put them in timeout? Take away their toys? Ground them? That sh*t doesn't work on black children. Trust me, I was used to not having sh*t when I was younger so taking it away wasn't going to make me behave all of a sudden. But the fear of getting another a$$-whoopin would get me right. As a child they won't understand it but they get older, they will understand why their a$$ was beat.
Why does every generation believe kids are more disrespectful than the last? Kids have always been disrespectful in relatively affluent societies. The difference today is that children are exposed to violence, mature entertainment, drugs, commercialism, instant gratification, and fear much earlier than ever before. They have quick access to guns, porn, drugs, communication devices, technology, mature games, and information. The kids have not changed as much as the society around them has. When parents use corporal punishment as a short term solution to a long term problem, it does not work to resolve the chronic issues involved.
And I already know the non-believers are going to go on how the bible is just a myth that contradicts itself and blah blah blah blah blah! Believe what you want, but as long as you're still alive it's never too late to give your live over to god. But I'm not trying to get into that for this particular discuss.
The Bible was written and translated by people with limited knowledge, their own biases, their own beliefs, and their own agendas. The Bible is as fallible as the people who wrote it.
Some children out here are just so f*cking disrespectful that they need their a$$es beat to remind them that their still a child. Because in the real world, when we adults often get into trouble, it can lead to physical altercations, and someone could get seriously hurt.
There is a cause and effect relationship between children who are abused and adults who abuse. Physical abuse is a control mechanism and often a learned behavior. In Adrian Peterson's case, this is obviously so.
But we can't whoop the kids now, because the world is full of p***ies. Back in the day kids really got their a$$es beat with all kind of objects and no one got arrested. Back then parents were the only people allowed to hit you. I just think that there where a few bad parents who really abused that privilege by hitting their child for no reason which is why parents are slowly but sure will be strip of the right to discipline their child.
One can defend the premise that parents should have the right to use moderate corporal punishment as a disciplinary tool without fear a reprisal. This was not moderate punishment - especially for the act committed by this child.
f*ck NFL and everyone who thinks Peterson is a child abuser. Peterson is just doing what had been allowed in this world for many years up until now.
If it looks like a duck, acts like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it is likely a duck. Peterson abused his child. If he did so chronically, which is sounds like he did, he is by definition a child abuser.
There is a lot of what has been allowed in this world going around lately, and we are so much worse off as a society because of it.
