Yes, this year will again feature another tremendous "Summer of Soccer" for anyone who is a soccer/fútbol fan, which I do happen to be...
UEFA Euro 2024 (14th June - 14th July)
Host Country: Germany
Defending Champions: Italy
No of teams: 24
TV: FOX family of networks
The UEFA Euro tournament is probably the 2nd biggest soccer tournament in the world behind the World Cup, primarily due to the number of quality teams from Europe that participate. For example, 8 out of the Top 10 teams ranked in the FIFA Men's World rankings are from Europe.
2024 Copa América (20th June - 14th July)
Host Country: United States
Defending Champions: Argentina
No of teams: 16
TV: FOX family of networks
This is the oldest competition in the world and traditionally includes only teams in the CONMEBOL confederation (South America), but every so often teams from CONCACAF (North/Central America confederation) get invited and the US will host this tournament for the 2nd time. This is a very important tournament for the US Men's National Team as both they - and the US - gear-up to co-host the World Cup in 2026. Argentina and Lionel Messi finally broke through and won this tournament in the lead-up to their 2022 World Cup win, so imagine if the US was to win this tourament on their home soil?
2024 Paris Olympic Games (24th July - 10th August)
Host Country: France
Defending Champions: Men's-Brazil, Women's-Canada
No of teams: Men's-16, Women's-12
TV: NBC/Peacock
Both the US National Men's and Women's teams have qualified for the Olympic games this summer in Paris. The US women are currently in the CONCACAF Gold Cup Final game vs Brazil (that will take place this Sunday, 10th March at 8:15PM ET) and if they win, will be expected to win gold in Paris. The men will be coming-off the 2024 COPA América tournament.
